Kyu-jin Cho received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University and completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT.
He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at MIT and the Harvard Microbotics Lab. Since 2017, he has been working as an advisory professor at LG Electronics Materials and Production Engineering Research Institute and is currently working as the research director at Seoul National University’s SRFT(Soft Robotic Future Technology) Center and professor at Seoul National University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.
He has received the 2014 IEEE RAS(IEEE Robotics and Automation Society) Early Academic Career Award for his fundamental contributions to soft robotics and biologically inspired robot design.
He is researching microbiome robots, medical and rehabilitation robots, and soft robotics. In particular, his research focuses on the design, manufacture and control of robots using a variety of cutting-edge materials and manufacturing methods.
