Yi Sang-wook majored in Physics Bachelor's & Master's degree in Natural Science at Seoul National University and completed his Ph.D. in science philosophy at the same graduate school. He then earned a doctorate in philosophy from the University of London(LSE) and won the Robert McKenzie Prize in 2002 for his doctoral dissertation.
He is currently carrying out research with interest in various subjects of science and technology philosophy. He is particularly interested in the ethical issues of science and the philosophical analysis of the social aspect of scientific knowledge.
He taught at the Philosophy Department of the University of London since 2000. He is currently a professor of philosophy at Hanyang University, a member of the Research Ethics Information Center, and a member of Hanyang University's Institutional Review Committee.
